ITINERARY
Poland was a communist country for nearly 50 years and was the first in the “behind the Iron Curtain” to break out and turn into a democratic state. Warsaw, its capital became the centre of the new socialist reality, witnessing all the terror and the absurd of the system. Painting grass green for official visits, standing in long queues for meat or toilet paper, being surrounded by propaganda of success. This was all part of everyday life. We want to take you for a ride around sites in the city that will help you understand why people in Poland love and hate the Palace of Culture and Science (at the same time!), what they think of 1945 liberation and why they’re proud of 1989. You will experience for yourself what life was like under the eye of Big Brother
